She attended the Germantown Friends School which is located in Philadelphia's Germantown neighborhood, in the year 1994. In 1998, she earned the bachelor's degree from Harvard College. Welker married John Hughes in Philadelphia, who was an acclaimed marketing director. The couple has two daughters. They began to have an affair with one other.
