Dolly-Parton
Dolly Parton escaped the struggles that shaped her life at an early age by using her creative and imaginative imagination. Before she learned to write and read, she began to compose her own songs. Within 8 years she had her very first guitar. When she was 11 years old, she began to sing at the Knoxville Tennessee radio station. Her first album was recorded in the same calendar year Gold Band Records, a tiny independent label. In high school she was able to establish herself within the local community, however her ambition was bigger. On the very day she graduated from high school, in 1964. Her first charting records on Monument Records included Dumb Blonde and Something Fishy both in 1967. Around this time, Porter Wagoner was looking for an actress to sing for the show he had syndicated to television. Parton became a member of Grand Ole Opry 1969 after signing to RCA Records. The year 1974 was the first that she opted to walk away from Wagoner's show because the success of her own solo records including Joshua Coat, Many Colors and Jolene had outstripped their collaborative efforts. Parton's song, I Will Never Be Loved by You (for Wagoner), reached the No. number 1 position after the duo separated. It was the first time a song hit the top spot.
